This is a great opportunity that will particularly suit someone looking to gain some experience of working with young people, particularly those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). As a volunteer you will support group activities at The Unstoppables forum. The forum aims to ensure that young people with SEND have opportunities to have their say to shape services in Somerset, get involved in activities within their local communities and develop skills to prepare them for adult life.
As an Unstoppables Volunteer you will support group activities including preparing refreshments, tidying away at the end of the session and provide support for individuals who may need some breakout space and time away from the wider group.
The below are desirable but not essential as the role would also be suitable for someone looking to gain experience in this area.
– Experience of SEND – Experience of working with young people – Basic Food hygiene certificate.
By becoming an Unstoppables Volunteer you will get to improve your skills and knowledge and help others. This is an extremely rewarding opportunity and the Forum is very inspirational.
Somerset County Council recognises and values the contribution made by volunteers. Volunteers bring skills, enthusiasm and local knowledge which add value to the services we can provide through paid staff. As well as supporting current work, the Unstoppables volunteer can, with appropriate support, develop and lead new areas of work with the group which broaden the opportunities available for young people.
Please note, this role requires both an employer and character reference. If this is a difficulty for you, please contact the Volunteer Team on 01823 359200 / email@example.com
