Opportunity image

Family life and bringing up children are rewarding but can also be challenging. Public health nurses are nurses or midwives who are passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles and preventing illness. They work with pregnant women through to a child’s fifth birthday. Their role is to help families adjust to being new parents, and provide information and reassurance to support a baby or young child’s health, wellbeing and development. As a volunteer you could be at the forefront of supporting the Public Health Nursing teams. This could involve:

  • Meeting and greeting those attending clinics or groups
  • Making and serving refreshments to those attending clinics or groups
  • General administrative support including; Recording details of those attending clinics or groups, informing individuals about clinic or group times, venues and dates,
  • Engaging with families and escalating significant information to the qualified staff member
  • Volunteering across Somerset in a range of venues

Other tasks may be involved

The group times are:

  • Taunton: Tuesday 10.00 am to 11.00 am
  • Norton Fitzwarren: Wednesday 9.15 am to 11.30 am

You can apply for one or both groups!
